A Lagos State governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Chief Kunle Uthman, has pledged to make every agency in the state more effective if elected into office.
Uthman gave the pledge, yesterday, in Ikeja, Lagos, while briefing newsmen on his aspiration to become the next governor of Lagos State.
He said his primary responsibility would be to manage traffic by retraining the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) officials.
He also pledged to curb building collapse incidents in the state.
“Lagos State is called the Centre of Excellence for a justifiable reason, more particularly because it is a commercial centre of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Nigeria is the centre of the black race in terms of its population and therefore ought to be managed by competent people who will do what is right.
“Lagos State is one of the dirtiest cities in the world. A trip from Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport down to Idumota, you will see how bad the city is. It is smelling and toxic. It has environmental issues and on the centre of the roads are people who have not taken permission and are using the places as a market. They are therefore making traffic gridlock as a result of government’s failure,” Uthman said.
