Aide alleges Govt moves to amend charges against Dagogo

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant, Farah Dagogo’s media aide, Ibrahim Lawal, yesterday, raised the alarm over alleged moves by the state Governor, Nyesom Wike, his Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Zacchaeus Adangor, to amend charges through illegal means against the embattled lawmaker.

Dagogo, a member representing Degema/Bonny Federal Constituency, was remanded in correctional centre by the state High Court on May 13, a day after the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt granted him bail.

In a statement issued, yesterday, in Port Harcourt and made available to newsmen, Lawal called on international communities, civil society organisations and others to hold Wike, Commissioner of Police, Friday Eboka, responsible should anything untoward happened to the lawmaker, alleging that moves were on by the powers that be to amend the charges with the aim to further delay the matter.

The statement reads: “Having seen and observed first hand yesterday, May 16, 2022, how its lead counsel, Zacchaeus Adangor, SAN, who also doubles as the Rivers State Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General was thoroughly trounced by Dagogo’s lead counsel, Cosmos Enweluzo, SAN, the state government had to resort to the latest devious means, intended not only to continue the bastardisation of the Judiciary but to continue with the illegal incarceration of Farah Dagogo.”

Lawal said the delayed tactics were designed to prevent Dagogo from participating in the PDP governorship primaries.
