Lagos is creating enabling environment for arts – Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture

The Lagos State Government has said it would continue to create an enabling environment for the artistic industry in the state to thrive.

According to a statement on Thursday, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs Oyinade Nathan-Marsh, disclosed this during a symposium organised by the Lagos State Council for Arts and Culture to commemorate the 2022 World Arts Day, in Alausa, Ikeja.

She said, “The arts are important communication vehicles, and a prosperity-generating sector deserving vibrant investments from both the public and private sectors, therefore the Sanwo-Olu administration will continue to encourage an enabling environment for the artistic industry to thrive.”

The Chief Executive Officer of LSCAC, Mr Oladusi Komolafe, also said, “Lagos joins the global trend to observe the day with the agency spearheading efforts for the promotion of the development of arts especially the educational aspect.”

A lecturer at the Creative Arts Department, University of Lagos, Dr Olusola Ogunfuwa, stated that arts and artists benefitted immensely in early 21st Century in Africa, as this improved the pace for notable artists and made arts and culture receive recognition and relevance.
