Expect thorough investigation, say Police

Lagos State Police Command has assured Nigerians of thorough investigation into the sexual scandal involving the 10-year-old girl of Chrisland Schools, whose video with a male colleague during a trip to Dubai recently surfaced. The State Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Police (SP), Benjamin Hundeyin, who disclosed this to The Guardian yesterday, said: “ investigation is ongoing and the public should expect a thorough investigation.

“All the statements from parties involved have been taken by the command.” Hudeyin, however, denied the Command’s involvement in the reopening of the school.

He stressed that the Command has no involvement in the closure and reopening of the school, stating that the command is concerned with the criminal investigation. Hundeyin said: “Closing of the school has nothing to do with criminal matters. It was a policy issue from the state Ministry of Education and what we are concerned with is the criminal element which transpired.

“ So closing of the school has no input from the Commissioner of Police. So there is no way reopening of the school will be based on advice from the CP. It is only if he had recommended for the school to be closed, you can now be talking about recommending again for it to be reopened.” Earlier, the embattled girl was said to have apologised on her Likee App. However, her father was quoted as saying his daughter no longer uses phones or has access to social media, adding that after the incident, the family stopped her from access to all her social media accounts. It was gathered that she deleted her videos on her own Likee page where she had over 12, 400 fans. However, her father said it’s been two weeks since she touched a phone or used the Internet. He said since the controversial issue started, the family had deleted no fewer than 87 accounts created by impostors.
