*Says They Lack Focus During Training Of Law Students *Says Students Waste 6 Years Learning With Outdated ‘Weapons’

The former Deputy Director-General of the Nigerian Law School, Enugu Campus, Professor Ernest Ojukwu, SAN has faulted law teachers for the current delay in justice delivery in Nigeria.

Ojukwu, who happens to be the President of the Network of University Legal Aid Institutions, said law teachers lack focus during training of students.

“Of course over 60% of what lawyers do and practice relating to DELAYED JUSTICE is because of the complete omissions/focus or lack of focus of law Teachers during students training. A legal Education without a Goal.” he said .

He further described the years of study of students as “wasted 6yrs that prepares combatants only and use of mostly outdated weapons.”

Ojukwu’s statement was a reaction to the tweet of Emeka Obegolu, SAN who recounted his experience at the Supreme Court of Nigeria. According to Obegolu, he witnessed a matter where parties had both died while their case was pending before the Apex Court.

“Today, 22/2/22, a 2005 appeal came up for hearing before the Supreme Court of Nigeria. Counsel informed the court that both the appellant and the respondent are deceased. #Justicedelayed” Obegolu tweeted.
