The Lagos State Government has urged residents to observe proper waste disposal system during the festive period.

The Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tunji Bello, said this in a statement on Wednesday.

He said, “With the increasing cases of the fourth wave of COVID-19 virus, there is the need for restraint and observance of all safety protocols at this period.

“A lot of waste will be generated during the Christmas and New Year celebrations, hence, there should be proper disposal of animal waste as well as sorting and bagging of such refuse while placing them at designated points for pick up by the assigned Private Sector participation operators.”

Bello added that residents should report cases of environmental infractions through the Citi Monitor App.

“I want to appeal to all residents to report cases of environmental infractions such as black spots and illegal dump sites promptly and this can be done through the Citi Monitor App which is available on Google Play Store and Apple store,” he said.
