The Lagos State Safety Commission has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the state chapter of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria to eliminate accidents in factories across the state.
The Director-General, LSC, Mr Lanre Mojola, said this on Tuesday during the signing of the MoU and presentation of a book on safety in Alausa, Ikeja.
He said, “As part of efforts of this government to achieve a safer and healthier Lagos, the commission has held constructive meetings with the MAN to solicit its help in ensuring minimum safety compliance, and indeed, safety education for its member organisations.
“We hope that this agreement is the beginning of another journey to ensure zero accidents across the state. We are running a campaign called, ‘Zero accidents for 2022’ until the end of this administration.
“It is expected that when this MoU comes into force, there will be a significant reduction in accidents, injuries, fatalities and loss of property in the manufacturing sector of the state.”
The Health, Safety and Environment Officer, MAN, Ikeja branch, Mr Sola Ologun, lauded the commission for its strategic partnership to ensure safety in industries.
“We are grateful to the LSSC for its commitment and robust relationship, and with this MoU, industries will thrive and we will ensure that they operate in safe environments,” he said.
