Kingship crisis: Monarch urges court to dismiss Deji of Akure’s suit over his installation

Sequel to the kingship crisis in Akure Kingdom, the Iralepo of Isikan, Oba Olugbenga Ojo, has asked an Akure High Court to dismiss the suit filed by Deji of Akure, Oba Aladelusi Ogunlade Aladetoyinbo, against his installation as the community king.

In a preliminary objection filed by his counsel, Chief Olusola Ebiseni, and made available to journalists in Akure yesterday, the monarch said the court lacks jurisdiction to entertain the suit filed by the Deji.

The Isikan monarch said Oba Aladetoyinbo and his four kingmakers, who are claimants in the suit, do not have locus standi to file the suit.

He said the claimants failed to fulfil the conditions precedent to filing the suit and that the suit disclosed no reasonable or formidable cause of action.

He added that the suit was statute-barred because it was not brought within the time permitted by law and that the case is an abuse of the court process.

He, therefore, asked the court to decline jurisdiction to hear, entertain or determine the suit for being incompetent.

Justice Olusegun Odusola, fixed December 1, 2021 for the hearing of the objection.

IN another development, the traditional ruler of Owa Idanre Kingdom in Ondo State, Oba Frederick Aroloye, Arubiefin IV and other stakeholders in the community have appealed to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu to help in rehabilitating the Akure-Idanre road.

Chairman of the coronation anniversary, Dr. Anthony Omolola, who stated this ahead of the 45th coronation anniversary of the Owa of Idanre Kingdom, said the appeal was necessitated due to the deplorable state of the road, which has not been touched in the last six years.

Omolola noted that apart from the Akure-Idanre Road, all the roads to various villages and towns in the area have become death traps.
