The Elerinja of Erinja Orile in Yewa South Local Government area of Ogun State, Oba Olufemi Egunjobi has begged the state governor, Dapo Abiodun to fix their road 4km road which has been abandoned 14 years ago.
The monarch said the deplorable condition of the road which leads to Ilobi-Erinja, off the Ilaro-Owode road has consistently been a source of concern to the residents of the area.
Oba Egunjobi said this on the sideline of commemoration of the one-year installation of the Baale of Amosun-Owoyele, Baale Semiu Amosun, under his prescribed authority.
He said this through the Odofin of the ancient town, Chief Kola Adeleye who appealed to the governor to grant their only request on the road.
He said, “We will not say we are frustrated since we believe in the powers of prayers more than anything else, since advocacy seems incapable again. We want to use this rare opportunity to appeal to the listening ear of the governor of our dear state, Prince Dapo Abiodun, to come to our aid.
“We don’t have any other request for him except this road. Every other thing will fall into place if and when this road is fixed alongside the bigger Owode-Ilaro road,” the Odofin stated.
Also speaking, the Baale of Amosun-Owoyele described self-help as the first help.
He said, “We grew up to the age-long philosophy that heaven helps those who help themselves. Self-help is the first help, government intervention is the best help since the government is ordained by God. I want to appeal to our people all over the places to think of their ancestral home.
“Let’s facilitate small and big holding companies to our land of birth while our monarchs keep talking to the government on the one no individual can face, that is the issue of our road.”
According to Baale Amosun, the government would be able to make more income from taxes and dues when commerce improves in the area, just as he described the people as “hardworking and highly disciplined”
