There was panic in Ikeja, the Lagos State capital after a gas leakage occurred in the morning of Wednesday.

The affected areas in Ikeja were listed by authorities to include Computer Village, Underbridge Awolowo Way, and Oba Akran axis, Anifowose Street, and Medical Road.

The spokesperson for NEMA (South West), Ibrahim Farinloye, had immediately issued a warning to residents against using anything inflammable.

According to him, residents “must not open shops or use open naked fire for safety reasons.”

That the gas leakage has been brought under control with residents advised to go about their daily routine.

However, traffic diversion around the areas is still in force as law enforcement agents remain active at the scene of the gas leakage.
