Kasimu Alhaji Umaru Isa deceased, the late lecturer at College of Education Zing, in Taraba State, Hajiya Lubabatu Umaru Gassol, widow has dragged her late husband ‘s two brothers to court for denying her access to her late husband property.

In the suit filed at Magistrate Court, Jalingo, Gassol alleged that since Isa’s demise seven years ago, his two brothers have been subjecting her and her five children to inhuman treatment.Wondering why the brothers of her late husband have decided to indulge in such acts without taking the future of her children into consideration. She also urged the court to declare the purported takeover of the property by the two brothers as null and void.

Gassol also urged the court to order the defendants as a matter of urgency, to remit to her all money collected so far as rent from the building of her deceased husband.

Noting that taking adequate care of her children since the demise of her husband has become difficult, she wants the court to allow her and her children take possession of the properties left behind by her husband.

Surrounded by her children in the court premises, she said: “ The two brothers of “my late husband have being collecting rents from my children’s house, but have refused remitting same nor feeding the children or taking care of their bills. “When the matter came up for mention, the defendants pleaded with the court, to allow them time to get a legal representative.The court granted the request and adjourned till November 3, for hearing on the matter.

It was learnt that the education of the children has been affected by the alleged action of her late husband’s brothers. Narrating her ordeals to The Guardian after the adjournment, the widow said they now feed from hand to mouth as a result of the alleged takeover of the late husband’s properties by the two brothers. She also solicited help from Nigerians and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs).
