Plateau State Government has pleaded with the Federal Government to redeem the N10 billion it promised the state during one of its crisis situations.
Governor Simon Lalong made this known yesterday when the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Farouq, presented relief materials to the state for distribution to crisis victims in six local councils.
She said the relief materials are from the President.
At the non-speech making occasion, the governor urged the minister to impress it on President Muhammadu Buhari to redeem the pledge.
Among the relief materials were 2,000 bags each of 50kg rice, maize and noodles. Others are 1,000 mattresses, roofing sheets, mosquito nets, nails, tins of evaporated milk and blankets. The Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ahmed Habib, had earlier thanked the President for the kind gesture.
