The Eastern Bar Forum (EBF) has suspended indefinitely her meeting slated for 8th and 9th of this month due to insecurity in Anambra State.
In a press statement made available to ASKLEGALPALACE, the Chairman of forum Anene Uba noted with dismay the rate of security deterioration in the State. He noted that the safety of delegates and guest build to attend the meeting cannot be guaranteed in the current security situation in the State.
Mr Anene expressed further that the security situation in the State worsened as a result of the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the State, stating that the meeting would be suspended and a new date would be communicated immediately after the election and security improves in the State.
“Due to the recent disturbing developments in Anambra State due consultations was initiated with necessary stakeholders and feedbacks received. The problems in Anambra State appear to have become exacerbated by some intrigues connected to the upcoming elections in the state.
The security of our members is, of course, our most important consideration.
As it is, the security situation in Anambra State has become dangerous and unpredictable and the safety of delegates and guests can no longer be reasonably guaranteed.
As a result, the EBF meeting scheduled to hold in Anaocha on 8th/9th October 2021 is postponed. New dates will be communicated as soon as modalities are put in place after the said elections, probably early next year.”
