Quarterly Meeting Slated For October 2

The Easter Bar Forum, EBF, has issued a Notice for the amendment of its constitution ahead of its quarterly meeting slated for October 2, 2021.

The Notice is signed by the Forum’s Legal Adviser and Abia State Representative in the Governing Council, S. E. C. Nwosu.

Nwosu said the meeting will hold at Anaocha, Anambra State and the proposed amendments include Articles 2, 3 and 10 of the Forum’s Constitution

EASTERN BAR FORUM

NOTICE OF AMENDMENT OF THE CONSTITUTION OF EASTERN BAR FORUM 2020

Notice is hereby given for the amendment of the Constitution of the Eastern Bar Forum (EBF) 2020 to alter the Provisions of the Constitution on Membership and Finance as follows:

Article 2 (1) (2) and (3) Relating to Membership of the EBF

To amend paragraph (1) of 2 relating to the requirement that: The Branches shall be required to register with the forum on payment of fees to be determined from time to time by the General Meeting and shall be represented by their Chairmen and Secretaries

To be altered as follows:

Registered Branches of the Nigerian Bar Association in the States situate in the Former Eastern Region of Nigeria shall be automatic affiliates of the Eastern Bar Forum and shall be required to pay an annual subscription of an amount determined from time to time by the general meeting. They shall be represented at the EBF meetings by their Chairmen and Secretaries

2. To amend Paragraph (2) of Art. 2 relating to

Individual Members of NBA Branches in the former Eastern Region may be admitted as members upon registration

To be altered as follows:

Individual Members of NBA Branches in the (former Eastern Region of Nigeria who are indigenes of any of the States of the Former Eastern Region shall be automatic members of the Eastern Bar Forum provided that such members pay their annual dues to the Forum on or be(ore 31st March each year.

3. To amend Paragraph (3) of 2 relating to

An individual member of any Branch of the NBA other than the Branches of the Forum who are indigenes of the States in the Former Eastern Region of Nigeria may be admitted as members of the Forum on payment of a prescribed fee as long as that person does not belong to another NBA Regional Forum

To be altered as follows:

An individual member of any Branch of NBA other than the Branches of the Forum who are indigenes of the States in the Former Eastern Region of Nigeria are also automatic members of the Forum on payment of the prescribed annual dues, provided that the person does not belong to another NBA Regional Forum or formally ends his Membership of that other Regional Forum upon becoming a Member o(the EBF

Article 10 (1)

The funds of the Forum shall be derived from donations from members, yearly dues, membership registration fees, grants, endowments and investing funds as may be approved by the general meetings.

To be altered as follows: i) The funds of the Forum shall be derived from annual dues bp members which shall be 50% of the fees papable bp such member as Bar Practising Fee (BPF), annual subscriptions bp member branches, donations from members and non — members and organizations grants endowments, and investing (unds as map be approved bp the general meetings

Note: These amendments shall be proposed during the EBF Quarterly Meeting at Anaocha, Anambra State on 2nd October 2021.
