Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is set to commission a 600-capacity Dorian Home built to cater for the needy in Akure, Ondo State. The project is said to have gulped over $5 million.
Founder of Dorian Home and philanthropist, Dr. Lola Bayode disclosed this yesterday while addressing journalists in Akure, saying it was in fulfilment of her long desire and contribution to humanity.
Bayode said she built the home because of a passion to put smiles on the faces of the downtrodden and uplift their living standard, saying the fully furnished state-of-the-art ultra-modern facility will also cater for abandoned children in the society.
She said after her elder brother’s death, the reality dawned on her that man’s purpose on earth is to touch life and uplift humanity.
The Ukraine-trained medical professional cum humanist, Bayode, called on the government both at the state and federal level to support the Dorian Home initiative.
“For now we have not accepted any funds from anywhere. I’m doing this for charity but going forward, we are expecting to have support from people of like-minds.
She said the Home would employ about 300 staff. “We also have an international standard children hospital, which is going to be called Dorian Children Hospital.
“It’s noteworthy that the Home also has skill acquisition centres for women empowerment, a 400-capacity hall and worship centre. Dorian Home is billed to be officially commissioned by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, among other top personalities.”
