Police Investigation Officer (IPO) of Alapere Police Station, Lagos, Inspector Kemi Ruth, yesterday, testified against the four staff members of YHS Financial Company, a microfinance institution, accused of felony and unlawful detention of their customer.
The IPO gave evidence on ill treatment meted to the victim, Tope Ibrahim, at Ogudu Magistrate court, during the resumed hearing of the case, which was adjourned on August 10, 2021.
After the testimony, Magistrate A.O. Daodu, adjourned till December 6, 2021, for continuation of trial.
According to the charge sheet, on August 6, 2021, the culprits, Faith Adekunle (F), Awosika Tosin (M), Olakunle Cokar (M) and Jimoh Olawale Moruf (M) now at large, unlawfully deprived the victim, a resident of Unity Estate, off Ojokoro, Ikorodu, Lagos, her liberty and freedom of movement by detaining her at their office, located at No 536, Ikorodu Road, Iyana School Bus Stop, beside General filling station, Ketu Lagos.
“That you Faith Adekunle (F), Awosika Tosin (M), Olakunle Cokar (M) and Jimoh Olawale Moruf (M) now at large on same date, time and place in the aforementioned magisterial district did unlawfully deprive one Tope Ibrahim of Unity Estate off Okoro, Ikorodu, Lagos, liberty by denying her liberty and freedom of movement by restraining her movement in your facility for about five hours and thereby committed an offence, contrary to and punishable under section 287 Criminal law of Lagos State 2015.
“That you Faith Adekunle on same date, time and place in the aforementioned magisterial district did unlawfully assault one Tope Ibrahim by using a belt to flog her all over her body and thereby committed an offence, contrary to and punishable under section 173 Criminal law of Lagos State 2015.
“That you Faith Adekunle on same date, time and place in the aforementioned magisterial district did unlawfully steal the earrings and necklaces, valued at N6, 000 and underwear tight valued at N2, 000 of the victim and thereby committed an offence, contrary to and punishable under section 287 Criminal law of Lagos State 2015.”
