Hoodlums in their hundreds, yesterday, occupied the state secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano, as the National Appeal Committee sat to receive petitions arising from the party’s ward congress from aggrieved members.
The panel was last week inaugurated by Governor Mai Mala Buni-led Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) to address arising complaints.
The fierce-looking young men, around the Maiduguri Road secretariat, brandished knives, daggers, clogs, and other dangerous weapons.
Some of the angered faithful, including members of the House of Representatives for Kano Municipality and Tofa/Dawakin Tofa/Rimin Gado Federal Constituencies, Sha’aban Sharada and Tijjani Abdulkadir Jobe, opposed the consensus arrangement during the ward congress.
Addressing journalists on their mission in Kano, the chairman of the six-member committee, Dr. Kabir Matazu, confirmed that they were in the ancient city to address complaints relating to last month’s ward congress.
