FCT to compensate over 4000 owners of demolished homes

Owners of about 4000 houses demolished in the past few weeks in Abuja are to be compensated, according to Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Muhammed Bello.

The Permanent Secretary in the FCT, Olusade Adesola, made the commitment on behalf of the minister, yesterday, during an awareness campaign on the recent demolition of illegal structures in the territory.

He promised that those with genuine grievances and complaints would be promptly attended to.

ALSO yesterday, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) flagged-off N1.8 billion access road and car park projects in parts of Abuja.

Specifically, the projects, estimated to cost about N1, 830,392,695 and financed from the Green Bond fund domiciled in the Ministry of Environment, have been awarded to an indigenous contractor and would be completed within 12 months.

The minister said the projects were early this year approved by President Muhammadu Buhari, as part of efforts towards accelerating infrastructure development in the nation’s capital.
