Babajide Sanwo-Olu.The Lagos State has said its 2022 budget will pay attention to youth and infrastructure development.

The Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Mr Sam Egube, made this known during a five-day consultative forum organised by the ministry in Agidingbi, Ikeja.

Egube, who noted that the forum was part of efforts towards ensuring inclusiveness, said, “We are paying a lot of attention to youth development, technology, infrastructure; basically to build up economic activity and to get hope back to our people.

“This forum is also to align the government with the people and create a 2022 budget that fosters transparency, citizen participation and accelerated development in all the five divisions of the state.

“With this forum we have commenced the budget cycle for 2022 and we need to align ourselves with the people to be sure that their needs are catered for. We are organising this forum in the Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, Lagos Island and Epe divisions.”

On the performance of the 2021 budget, the commissioner said, “In terms of performance; as of June 2021, we are doing quite well. We are around 85 per cent budget performance. We intend to keep it that way and drive it up as we move towards the end of the year. What that means is that a lot of the things that we said we will do, we are already doing.”
