Africa’s first Court Recording System (Q-soft Denovo), will be launched this month by the Vice President of Federal Republic of Nigeria Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, SAN.
The Recording System is aimed at eliminating longhand writing and inmate transportation to Courts.
Q-soft Denovo, a solution developed by Funmi Quadri (SAN) & Co., not only records audio and video proceedings from the courtroom but also, in real-time, converts speech to text with amazing accuracy.
In addition, it also addresses the challenge of transporting inmates from the Nigerian Correctional Facility on a daily basis.
According to Learned Silk, the singular problem of writing with hand has negatively impacted Nigeria’s justice delivery system.
“The implication of the rising numbers of case files inundating the courts culminates in jailbreaks, insecurity, loss of investors as well as erosion of public confidence in the judiciary.
“Considering the effect of the pandemic and the JUSUN strikes, it is urgent that a new approach is adopted in ensuring speedy dispensation of cases in our courts.
“Interestingly, both the hardware and software components of this system are totally designed and made in Nigeria and the first of its kind in Africa.”
She further said that the product will be launched by His Excellency, the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on the 26th of July, 2021 at 11 am.
Other distinguished personalities to attend the launch are Hon. Justice of Court of Appeal Monica Dongban Mnsem, Attorney General of Federation and Minister of Justice; Abubakar Malami, President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Olumide Akpata and Controller General Nigerian Correctional Service, Haliru Nababa.
