The immediate Past Vice-Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Anaocha Branch, Dr. Destiny Chuwudi Nnagbo, has expressed concern over the delay in constituting leadership of Young Lawyers Forum (YLF) in Anaocha Branch of NBA.
Nnagbo, in a phone conversation with newsmen, said the current Chairman, Kaine Anawuine, has never deemed it fit or necessary to organize an election for the Forum or make necessary appointments thereof.
He said in the last administration during which he (Nnagbo) served as Vice Chairman, the Forum was in existence “then why is it during his own time that he wants to kill the Young Lawyers Forum Anaocha Branch?” Very bad, Nnagbo queried
“As it stands there is no Chairman or members of the YLF in Anaocha Branch. “It is appalling because young lawyers are the bedrock and future of any branch cum Anaocha Branch.
“without having vibrant Young Lawyers Forum in the Bar, it shows that Anaocha Bar will one day be no more.
“Young Lawyers Forum is very important in any branch of NBA. It is something you cannot do without.”
He said it pains him a lot when he sees young lawyers in other branches moving and doing very well in their respective capacities.
He noted also that sometime last month the Awka Branch Young Lawyers Forum held their unique meeting and same was successful.
He said he is also aware that J-K Gadzama SAN visited NBA Abuja Branch YLF. He will also attend the YLF Ado Ekiti NBA Branch meeting soonest wherein he will be their guest speaker.
“Then what is happening to our branch of Young Lawyers Forum? Does it mean that we don’t have capable hands to run same in Anaocha Branch or does it shows that our chairman is incapable?” Dr. Nnagbo asked.
He added that if he as one of the key players and or major stakeholder in the Anaocha bar doesn’t speak out hence many will be afraid to speak out because of them not to be removed from the platform.
“We must therefore as a matter of urgency address this issue before Anawuine, leaves office as chairman.
“History will not be kind to him if he leaves office as chairman without doing the needful,” Dr Nnagbo added.
