The Rivers State Judiciary has directed all the Judges of High Court to proceed on annual vacation from 27th of August to Tuesday 14th of September, 2021.
The Chief Judge of the State, Hon. Justice S. C. Amadi, in a circular dated 6th July 2021, the vacation is accordance with Order 45 Rule 4(c) of the High Court Court of Rivers State High Court (Civil Rule) 2010.
The circular said all Judicial Divisions of the Rivers State High Court would remain shut during the vacation. “Any urgent matter will be heard by vacation judges to be appointed by the Chief Judge.”
Therefore courts will be sitting from now till the 20th of August.
According to the Chief Judge, such is to “enable judges of the High Court in Rivers State to hear the backlog of cases and to decongest the highly congested Port Harcourt and Ahoada Correctional Centres occasioned by the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic nationwide and the last two months of JUSUN NATIONAL strike.”
