2021 NBA AGC: Committee Proposes Last Week Of October For The Conference

*Committee Also Proposes Adoption Of 2019 Conference Fee *NBA President Proposes Splitting of NBA Abuja Branch

The Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Technical Conference Committee Planning (TCCP) of the Annual General Conference (AGC) 2021 has proposed the last of week of October as the date for the 2021 AGC.

As Justification for the proposal, the Chairman of the committee, Ombo Victor Frank-Briggs, said Section 11 of the NBA Constitution empowers NEC to determine when the AGC and the AGM may hold.

Furthermore, the Committee proposed that the 2019 Conference Fees be adopted for the 2021 Conference.

According to the Chairman of the Committee, the strike of Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, JUSUN, and the Conferences of the various Sections of the NBA which held sequentially have had and are having a pinch on members’ revenue, thus the need to adopt the 2019 Conference Fees.

The NBA president, Olumide Akpata, in his response noted that these are not normal times. He urged NEC members to grant approval to the TCCP on the basis of its proposals.

Akpata also recommended that as a means of bringing an end to the lingering crisis, the Abuja NBA Branch should be split into two.

As at the time of making this news, the issues were been considered by the NBA NEC.
