Residents of Ijede in Ikorodu Local Government Area of the State have extolled the state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for rehabilitating Ijede road known as Itamaga-Ewu Elepe.
Speaking to newsmen at the event, Mr. Saka Solaja said the road would serve four Local Government Areas (LGAs) and four Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).
He stressed that it would improve the living conditions of the people in the axis. Also, community leader, Mudashiru Amoo, said the reconstructed road would reduce the suffering of residents, who wade through the muddy road during rainy season.
Another resident, Alhaja Ramat Ajibade, said the road would boost economic activities as well as increase the property value of the area.
Speaking at the event, Sanwo-Olu said the Ijede road, which was constructed by Messer Arab contractor, lasted for 17 months, adding that work is currently going on at Igbogbo Bola Tinubu road and some other areas in Ikorodu.
He added that work would take place soon at the Ikorodu Lagos round about. “We are going to start demolition and reconstruction of that entire corridor to be able to have a better journey for all our BRT buses that we want to hand over so they can ply Ikorodu road,” he said.
Sanwo-Olu noted that the road would lead to Ijede, Iwelepe, Gberigbe phase two. He also compensated citizens whose property was used for the construction of Ikorodu road with N500 million. The Special adviser of Works and Infrastructure, Aramide Adeyoye, an engineer, pledged to invest in modern road infrastructure to improve travel time, ease movement of goods and services and yield multiple dividends for Lagos and its residents.
She stressed that the commission took cognizance of the need to make commuting stress-free for pedestrians and motorists by constructing of dual carriageway, walkways, service ducts, drainage, culverts, streetlights and lay-bys and bus-stops.
