The Nigerian Institute of Training and Development (NITAD) has called on government to ensure speedy passage of the charter bill re-presented to the National Assembly.

President and Chairman of Council, NITAD, Ayoade Igbeyi, made the call during the institute’s yearly general meeting in Lagos.

She said the institute needed government’s support to get the bill to become an Act to make more impact in the profession.

She said the institute, which has existed for 32 years, had never been found wanting and should be given recognition.

Noting that learning and development is continuous and should not be undermined, she maintained that the issue of unemployment and underemployment would be resolved if people are well trained.

“NITAD is spectacular because it is a conglomeration of professions; it brings together all kinds of people in order to impact the learning of employees and the unemployed. NITAD prepares you for after work. What you learnt in NITAD will come in after paid employment,” she said.

Igebyi, who said that the institute is collaborating with organisations to key into its programmes, added that it planned to be more open to expand and forge strategic partnerships in the conduct of its affairs.

National Treasurer, NITAD, Olutoyin Senbore hinted about measures put in place by the body to ensure funds are generated through members’ subscriptions and other programmes.

He said the institute ensured it made members see more value on what the institute is doing so they would be more active to participate in programmes.
