• Ize-Iyamu congratulates gov, seeks his intervention over Edo Assembly crisis • Oshiomhole greets successor Market women in Edo State have applauded the Supreme Court verdict dismissing alleged certificate forgery suit against Governor Godwin Obaseki and affirmed his victory in the September 19, 2020 governorship poll, adding that Edo people’s confidence in Obaseki was never misplaced.

They said the governor will continue to enjoy the popular support of Edo people as his administration continues to re-engineer governance to impact on the lives of the people through infrastructure and socio-economic development in all sectors.

A trader in Oba Market, Mrs. Esther Osahon Obasuyi, said the Supreme Court verdict reaffirmed the confidence that Edo people had on Obaseki’s qualification for the election.

“Despite the false stories peddled by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, we strongly believed that the governor was more than qualified for the office,” she added.

Another trader, Mrs. Vivian Obi, commended the ruling, saying: “I never had any doubt about Governor Obaseki’s qualification for the governorship seat. He has never disappointed Edo people. I am happy with the verdict. The Edo APC should join hands with the governor to make the state great for us all.”

BESIDES, candidate of the APC in the governorship election, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, yesterday, congratulated Obaseki on his victory at the Supreme Court, which upheld his electoral victory.

He stated this in a letter to Obaseki in Benin City, saying the Supreme Court judgment had put an end to the litigations over the governorship elections.

Ize-Iyamu also appealed to Obaseki to consider the issues of the 14 constituencies that were presently without representatives in the state House of Assembly.

In a letter to the governor, he acknowledged that although the matter was in court, the governor was now in a better position to intervene.

He also urged the governor to intervene in the issue of elected local government chairmen, vice-chairmen, councilors and supervisory councilors, who were suspended and removed from office.

MEANWHILE, former National Chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomhole, has congratulated Obaseki on his victory at the Supreme Court.

In statement issued yesterday by his Media Aide, Victor Oshoke, he (Oshiomhole) said: “Congratulations on your victory at the supreme Court, which has effectively laid to rest all matters arising from the governorship election.”
