A federal high court sitting in Lagos on Thursday granted an interim order restraining Emeka Okonkwo (aka E-Money) Kingsley Chinweike Okonkwo (aka Kcee), and Five Star Music Limited, from displaying, advertising, and performing to the general public all the songs contained in the album titled ‘Cultural Praise Vol. 1’ pending the hearing and determination of the Motion on Notice.

Justice Hassan Muslim Sule, while granting an ex parte order, filed by the Plaintiff’s counsel, also restrained the Respondents from adapting, producing, transforming into any medium, displaying, distributing, marketing, advertising the album titled ‘Cultural Praise Vol. 1’

Recalls that a prominent Catholic music composer, Sir, Jude Nnam, in SUIT NO.: FHC/L/CS/304/2021, dragged singer Kcee and this brother E-Money as well as the music label to court for alleged copyright infringement.

It would be recalled that Kcee released an Okwesili Eze Group-assisted single titled ‘Cultural Praise Vol 1’ in December 2020 while a sequel was put out in January 2021.

The motion on Notice will be heard in April 2021.
