24-year-old man arraigned over theft of N25,000 phone
The Ekiti State Police Command, on Monday, arraigned a 24-year-old man, Olamide Ajayi, before an Ado Ekiti Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a phone valued at N25,000.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Oriyomi Akinwale, told the court that the defendant, on February 21, 2021, 9pm on Egun Street, Ifaki-Ekiti, stole one Itel P33 phone valued at N25,000.

Akinwale alleged that the phone Ajayi stole belonged to one Isaac Ajewole, an offence that was contrary to and punishable under Section 390 of the Criminal Code Cap C16 Laws of Ekiti State of Nigeria, 2021.

Counsel for the defendant, Gboyega Abiola, urged the court to admit his client to bail in liberal terms, saying he would not jump bail.

The magistrate, Mrs Modupe Osundina, admitted Ajayi to bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.

The magistrate said the surety must be resident within Ado Ekiti.

Osundina adjourned the case till May 6, 2021 for hearing.
