Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola |
The Federal Housing Authority on Tuesday said it had commenced the payment of contractors who had completed their jobs.
Last week about 200 contractors of the authority staged a protest at the headquarters of the FHA in Abuja to demand for the payment of projects that were done by them for the agency.
Providing an update on the development in a statement issued in Abuja, the spokesperson for FHA, Kenneth Chigelu, said the payment which commenced on Tuesday was in fulfilment of an agreement that was reached recently.
The FHA said, “This is to notify our stakeholders and members of the public that the management of FHA has commenced the payment of contractors who have completed their jobs and are verified in both Zuba and Guzape sites in Abuja.
“This is in keeping with resolution reached at the meeting held between the management and the representatives of the contractors on March 16, 2021.”
The authority said it was important to note that it remained committed to the dictates of public accountability which required the verification of work done before making payment for projects.
It assured its stakeholders and partners that the authority would continue to hold in high regard the existing strategic partnerships in order to deliver on its mandates.
