The House of Representatives Ad hoc Committee on Abandoned Properties, yesterday, summoned the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mohammed Bello, to account for seized properties in his domain.
Also summoned over the issue is the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami (SAN) and the Auditor General of the Federation (AuGF).
The Ademorin Kuye-led panel reiterated the need to raise money from the assets to fund the 2021 budget.It expressed dissatisfaction with the explanation offered by the Acting Director of Asset Forfeiture and Recovery Management of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Aliyu Yusuf.
While giving the anti-graft agency two weeks to liaise with the AGF office on accurate details, Kuye urged immediate sale of the items.
Faulting the transfer of some of the assets to the AGF, the chairman charged the EFCC to be diligent.
