The Lagos State’s Director-General, Office of Public-Private Partnerships (PPP), Mr. Ope George has assured that the office will continue to initiate projects that boost infrastructure renewal and development this year, in line with the government’s THEMES agenda.
He stated this in Alausa while giving insight into PPP activities in the state. George stressed that the PPP office before commencement examines major partnership projects in the state.
The DG disclosed that the arrangements leading to the evaluation and selection of bidders for the 4th Mainland Bridge project commenced at the PPP Office, pointing out that the eight companies that met the eligibility criteria were shortlisted for advancement to the next stage.
According to him, the development of a Medical Village spanning 2.1 hectares of land on Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, was also initiated last year with a series of meetings held between representatives of the PPP Office, Ministry of Health and Project Consultants, envisaging that a preferred bidder will be announced in the course of year 2021 to advance the process for execution of the novel project.
He said, “forty-eight bidders also expressed interest in the development of a Smart Health Information Platform after invitations for Expressions of Interest were advertised in the year 2020. The platform, when opertional, will connect the entire health ecosystem in Lagos State.”
On transport management initiatives involving PPP, he said a solution which captures, processes and stores traffic violation data, as well as billing and payment for vehicle inspections, has reached advanced stage and is being deployed in stages.
The DG said, “Lagosians should rest assured that year 2021 will witness partnerships that will move this state closer to the achievement of its Smart City goals. The PPP Office is focused on leveraging partnerships that will birth world-class infrastructure in Lagos. As we start a New Year, I urge all residents to abide by the guidelines issued to halt the spread of COVID-19 that has continued to ravage the world.”
