Ogun suspends commissioner for alleged sexual harassment
Ogun State Government has suspended the Commissioner for Environment, Abiodun Abudu-Balogun, pending the conclusion of an investigation of alleged sexual harassment of 16-year old Barakat Mayowa Melojuekun.

A statement issued in Abeokuta by Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Tokunbo Talabi, revealed that the commissioner’s suspension was to enable him to cooperate with the independent investigation by the police.

“We take cognisance of the principle of a suspect being presumed innocent until proven guilty and the public statement issued by Abudu-Balogun denying the allegation.

“But as a government with zero tolerance for gender-based violence and any crime, the suspension is a further demonstration of the Governor Dapo Abiodun administration’s commitment to fairness, equity, justice, and the rule of law, no matter who is involved,” the statement said.

The government assures members of the public that it would do everything to ensure that justice prevailed in this case.

“In the meantime, Abudu-Balogun has been directed to hand over to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Environment,” the statement added.
