A federal High Court in Kano has fixed February 2, 2021 to hear a suit filed by Centre for Awareness on Justice and Accountability (CAJA) against the state government’s proposed N300 billion China loan.
The government projected the foreign facility to fund a metropolitan light rail project in the state.
The plaintiffs are asking the court to prevent the government from obtaining the loan from China Exim Bank.
Joined as respondents in the suit are the Senate President, Kano House of Assembly, Central Bank of Nigeria, Ministry of Finance, Debt Management Office, China EXIM Bank and China Embassy.
Meanwhile, the court granted the prayer of the plaintiff to serve China EXIM Bank and China Embassy through the China Embassy in Abuja.
