
The Government of Ekiti State has publicly presented the Ekiti State High Court Law Report.
The public presentation event was held yesterday to coincide with a State Banquet in honour of four lawyers from the State who recently attained the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).
The Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Honorable Funniniyi Afuye who chaired the event commended the Attorney-General of the State, Olawale Fapohunda, and the Staff of the Ministry of Justice for the publication and their giant strides in strengthening the Administration of Justice in the State.
He said the publication of the reports of the State High Court was novel and has solidified the leadership role of Ekiti State in judicial reforms.
Afuye who used the occasion to welcome the constructive partnership between the State House of Assembly and the Ministry of Justice, which had facilitated the enactment of many progressive laws for the state, urged the Ministry of Justice to continue to work towards sustaining its place as one of the most progressive justice Ministry in the country.
The State Attorney-General, Olawale Fapohunda in his remarks said that the publication of Judgements of the High Court of the State is the contribution of the Ministry of Justice to the growth of law practice in Ekiti State.
Fapohunda stated that Judges in the State High Court delivered well-reasoned judgements on a daily basis but regretted that these Judgements were not given prominence.
The Attorney-General said the publication of the Ekiti State High Court Law Report will definitely bring out the best in the Bar and Bench in the State.
He further informed that in addition to the hard copy of the Law Report the Ministry of Justice will early next year upload on a weekly basis judgements of the State High Court.
Presently there is no record of any State in the Federation that publishes judgements of its State High Court
