A statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Mr. Sunday Abutu, said that the purpose of the visit was for strategic planning, reconstruction and re-equipment, as well as for future reference.
According to him, the committee, which is headed by Commissioner of Police, Abutu Yaro, visited Ikere-Ekiti Area Command where police facilities were looted and vandalised, and also proceeded to Ikere Divisional Police Headquarters that was looted and set ablaze by the hoodlums during the protests.
“The team finally visited Afao-Ikere Divisional Police Headquarters that was also looted and set ablaze by the hoodlums under the ENDSARS protests.
“The committee, during the on-the-spot assessment, captured the pictorials of all the damage done to police infrastructure, verified the losses and damage suffered by personnel, among others,” the statement said.
Earlier in his remarks, the Commissioner of Police, Ekiti State Command, Tunde Mobayo, commended the committee for accepting to embark on what he described as sacrificial assignment, as well as their professionalism throughout the assessment.
Mobayo, who assured the good people of Ekiti State of his commitment to protection of life and property of the citizens, further debunked the rumour that the command had withdrawn all the officers and men posted to Ikere-Ekiti axis due to the recent unrest birthed by the ENDSARS protests, which were hijacked by hoodlums.
