The Oyo State Police Command has urged residents of the state to immediately report those who looted some police stations during the #EndSARS protests.
The state’s Commissioner of Police, Joe Enwonwu, stated this via a statement made available to journalists through the Public Relations Officer of the Command, Mr. Olugbenga Fadeyi.
“The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, Joe Nwachukwu Enwonwu, wishes to once again condemn in its entirety the co-ordinated attacks on police personnel while on their lawful duties, mass destructions/looting of police facilities, act of carnage meted to police personnel and the opportunity to unleash mayhem on innocent citizens of the state by suspected hoodlums/criminal elements who carted away property worth millions of naira during the ‘EndSARS protests’ in the state recently.
“The CP wishes to observe with dismay and utmost dissatisfaction the level of attacks on police personnel, carting away of arms and ammunition, looting/destruction of government property, among others, by these unscrupulous criminal elements of progress.
“Once again, the CP is seeking collaboration and partnership with members of the public, who might have credible information on these looters to report same immediately to the nearest police station or arrest and hand over to any security agencies close by for necessary action.
“Sequel to this, the CP enjoins all critical stakeholders, including traditional rulers, community/religious leaders and so on to appeal to the youths and their children/wards to desist from act(s) that can lead to breakdown of law and order in the state,” the statement said.
