The Igisogba Oke-Odo community, Omi-Adio area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, has been thrown into mourning after three residents of the area were reportedly washed away by flood on Monday.
The tragedy followed the downpour which got parts of the community flooded.
Residents of the community said three people, including the chairman of the landlords’ association in the community, Mr Nureni Adejumo, drowned in the flood.
A resident, Mr Alimi Olumuyiwa, said, “Three people drowned in the river on Monday evening. One of them is the community’s general landlord chairman, Mr Nureni Adejumo, aka Master.”
Nurudeen, son of the missing chairman, said, “I received a distress call yesterday (Monday) evening that my dad had been swept away by flood and he is nowhere to be found.”
The chairman’s son said news of his father’s fate brought to his mind the loss of his mother 10 years ago.
Attempts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer, Oyo State Command, Olugbenga Fadeyi, failed as he neither picked our correspondent’s phone calls nor responded to a text message sent to his line.
