
The plaintiff sued CAC and its Registrar General, alleging that its deregistration was a violation of their members’ right to freedom of association.
It claimed in the suit filed on Tuesday that having complied with the statutory requirements leading to its incorporation and issuance of certificate of incorporation; the defendants lacked the power to withdraw its registration and the said certificate of incorporation.
It prayed for an award of N500bn as exemplary and punitive damages and an award of N50m as cost of action.
They sought among others, “A declaration that once the statutory requirements under Company and Allied Matters have been met for lncorporation under Part C, of certificate issued, the defendants have no power to withdraw the said certificate.”
