“MISLEADING INFORMATION ON CLOSURE OF NBA SECRETARIAT AND STOPPAGE OF PRODUCTION OF STAMPS AND SEALS: A REBUTTAL FROM THE NBA
Distinguished colleagues, information reaching the National Secretariat of the Nigerian Bar Association confirms that some false information were published on a lawyers’ platform to the effect that all the staff at the National Secretariat of the NBA are yet to resume and for that reason, photocopies of the NBA stamps should be used by lawyers. The NBA is investigating the source of this misinformation and shall do the needful when the investigation is concluded.
However, members are advised to disregard the said misleading publication/information. The National Secretariat of the Nigerian Bar Association is open but on minimal staff level in compliance with the directives of the Federal government that only essential staff should be allowed to work from their offices.
Also, the NBA stamp applications are being processed remotely and upon production delivered as many branches have recently received the stamps of their members.
Therefore, members are strongly advised not to photocopy or scan their NBA stamps for the purposes of affixing same on processes and legal documents. Doing so constitutes professional misconduct and runs foul of the extant Rules of Professional Conduct.
All inquiries regarding the activities of the National Secretariat of the NBA should be forwarded to the General Secretary of the NBA, Mr. Jonathan Gunu Taidi Esq on 08035909340 and taidi.jonathan@nigerianbar.org.ng
Thank you.
