Lagos State Police Command, on Monday, arraigned two men, Kazeem Ekundayo and Waliu Majiyagbe, before the Lagos State Magistrates’ Court in Igbosere for allegedly defrauding a land buyer of N2m.
It was gathered that the defendants, sometime in August 2016, at Agboro Kayetoro town in the Ibeju-Lekki area of the state, allegedly collected the sum of N2m from one Samuel Mabeweje under the pretext of selling eight plots of land to him.It was learnt that after collecting the money from the complainant, the defendants refused to provide the plots of land but converted the money to their personal use.
The defendants were arraigned on three counts of conspiracy, fraud and stealing.
They pleaded not guilty to the charges.
According to the prosecutor, Cyriacus Osuji, the offences are punishable under sections 287, 314 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, A. O. Alogba, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N200,000 each with two sureties each in like sum.
Alogba adjourned the matter till April 2, 2020, for mention.
