President, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), His Eminence, Dr. Samson Supo Ayokunle has commended Lagos State government for banning motorcycles and tricycles in the state, describing the decision as a bold step taken in the right direction.

Ayokunle, who was the Guest Speaker, yesterday, at the Christian Association of Nigeria (Lagos State) Interdenominational Divine Service with the theme: Jesus Christ, The Alpha and Omega, The Beginning and the Ending, said he believed the ban was for security purpose, noting that a mixed multitude has surfaced with evil intention and this has necessitated review of the usage of motorcycles and tricycles as means of transportation in the state.

“Even though residents of Lagos State might be reacting negatively to the ban, thinking the step might lead to another kind of unemployment, it is however better to be alive and seek for means of livelihood than to wake up one day and discover that Boko haram sect had invaded the state,” he said.Ayokunle called on the state governor, Babatunde Sanwo-Olu to also make use of waterways as means of transportation to ease movement.

Sanwo-Olu who was the Special Guest of Honour, called for patience and understanding, saying the ban was for security reasons. He said the state would soon roll out vehicles as taxis to ease transportation worries.
