A Federal High court, Lagos yesterday discharged an order granted to Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) to take over the property of former Cross River State Governor, Donald Duke, over an alleged debt of N500m.Justice Nicholas Oweibo discharged the order based on the settlement terms filed and moved by AMCON’s legal team from Benson Reeds Legal Practitioners in Abuja.
Counsel to AMCON, Mrs. Juliet Benson, told the court that Duke has fulfilled the settlement terms and both parties have agreed to the terms, urging the court to adopt them as court’s judgment.
Counsel to Duke, Edoigiawerie Uyi, confirmed that his client has shown good faith by promptly paying over N350 million, which all parties consented to.
“I joined my colleagues to urge the court to enter our terms of settlement as full and final judgment of court,” he said.
In his ruling, Justice Oweibo granted the terms of settlement and entered it as final judgment.
