Men of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested two suspects for allegedly killing their landlord and dispossessing him of his car in Lagos.
Police spokesman, Bala Elkana, who made the disclosure, said on July 24, at about 5:00a.m. policemen from Iba Police Station, on a stop-and-search duty at First Gate, Agboroko area, Iba flagged down a Toyota Camry, which was driven in a reckless and suspicious manner.
“Two suspects, namely Daniel Isaac, aged 38 and Emmanuel Chukwu, were arrested. Investigation revealed that the first suspect, Isaac, killed his landlord, one Don Able, aged 50, from Rivers State and dumped his body in a well inside his compound at Owodun Street, Ikotun. The suspect was escaping with the robbed vehicle of the deceased along with his accomplice, Chukwu, when they were intercepted.
“Their intention was to sell the car. They confessed to the commission of the crime. Homicide detectives from State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba are investigating the case and the suspect would be charged to court.
In a related development same day at about 11:15a.m. Satellite Police Station received information from a source that a bag containing a suspicious item was smuggled into a motor park for onward transfer to Onitsha, Anambra State by unknown persons.
“Based on the information, the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Chike Oti, a former public relations officer of the command, deployed his surveillance team to the motor park at Maza Maza to recover the bag. Upon searching it, 50 rounds of 38mm live ammunition were hidden inside a Garri dust.
“A female passenger who claimed the bag was given to her by a man in Ojo area to deliver to someone at Onitsha was arrested and she is helping the police with useful information. The case has been transferred to SARS for further investigation,” Elkana said.
