An Enugu State Magistrates’ Court, on Thursday, remanded in prison custody one Afam Ude for allegedly killing the Secretary, Committee for the Creation of the Adada State, Mr Ejimofor Ozongwu.
Afam, the son of the traditional ruler of the Okwojo-Ngwo Asaa Autonomous Community, Col. C. C. Ude (retd), was said to have been on the run together with other members of the community since December 2015 following Ozongwu’s death.
He was later arrested and subsequently arraigned before Chief Magistrate D. K. Eko on two counts of conspiracy and murder.
When the charges were read to him, the accused did not make his plea as the magistrate declined jurisdiction to try the matter and ordered the transfer of the case file to the Director of Public Prosecutions for his advice.
The magistrate consequently remanded Afam in the Enugu Maximum Security Prison and adjourned the case till July 23, 2019, for report.
