A Chieftain of the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO), Dr. Amos Akingba and a professor of law, Akin Oyebode, have advocated a new constitution to engender a better country.
Speaking on Channels Television yesterday, they maintained that the 1999 Constitution as amended was imposed on the country since 1966.
Specifically, Oyebode described the constitution as a fraud, adding that what Nigeria parades as a constitution was charade and not a legitimate document, while Akingba called for a referendum for all Nigerians to decide what is best for them.
He said: “The correct one should be the one that is arrived at by the people. The current constitution has been imposed since 1966, subsequent imposition till today.
“Not even have they subjected the military imposed constitution for referendum for the people to decide, they know that the people will not accept it.”
