An Imo High Court sitting in Owerri has awarded N400 million against the state government over “unlawful and forceful entry and demolition” of staff quarters of Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education (AIFCE) by Governor Rochas Okorocha administration.

Justice Kemakolam Ojiako delivered the judgment yesterday in a suit, HOW/406/2016, instituted by Dr. A. M. Iwuoha and others against the governor, the Attorney General, the Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Urban Planning and others.

The court ruled that the state should give the money to the plaintiffs as consequential damages for rendering the pensioners homeless unlawfully.

The judge held that the action portrayed the defendants as people that had no respect for rule of law, ordering that the plaintiffs to take possession of all structures built in the area.
