Acting CJN gets court service on suit to halt his confirmation
Moves to stop the confirmation of the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Tanko Muhammad, continued yesterday as he was served on a suit seeking to stop President Muhammadu Buhari from confirming him.

The Board of Incorporated Trustees of Malcolm Omirhobo Foundation had, in an ex parte motion filed on April 15, asked the court to stop his confirmation as CJN, pending the determination of the motion on notice.

The plaintiff also asked for an order of interim injunction restraining the Eighth Senate from confirming his appointment as CJN pending the determination of the substantive suit.

The trial judge, Justice Inyang Ekwo, in a ruling delivered on May 6, had ordered the plaintiff to put the defendants on notice.
