Some of the indigenes of Igboodola in Ibeju Lekki Local Government Area of Lagos State have called on the state government to come to their aid by stopping an attempt by their neighbouring community of Ide from imposing on them a non-indigene as their traditional head.
The community made the appeal while speaking with the newsmen through their representatives: Chief Morufu Fasasi Kadiri, Chief Shefiu Kadiri Bello, Chief Morufu Dabiri, Mr. Dabiri Taiwo and Mrs. Rashidat Fasasi, alleging that the imposition is contrary to an agreement reached between them and Ide.
They alleged that those behind the said imposition had presented false information to the Onilekki of Lekki, local government chairman, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and some prominent members of the community to impose on them a traditional head against their wishes.
“We appeal for quick intervention of government and security agencies to protect the community from being encroached upon by impostors. We also say that the community has jointly appointed Chief Kazeem Dabiri, a bona-fide native of Igboodola as the head of the community.”
