The All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State are trading accusations over attempt to incite the judiciary against each other.

While the state government accused the PDP of deliberate attempt to incite the judiciary against Governor Gboyega Oyetola through frivolous allegations, the opposition party insisted that the APC government sponsored youths to protest against the Election Petitions Tribunal judgement in Osogbo on Wednesday.

In a statement signed by the Supervisor, Ministry of Information and Strategy, Mr. Adelani Baderinwa, the government said the PDP was planning to plant hatred in the heart of the judiciary against Governor Oyetola and the APC.

The PDP, on the other hand, said the ruling party had exposed its diabolical agenda to ridicule the judiciary by the protest after it had tactically denied the plot to stage an organised protest.

Badeinwa said “Oyetola believes in the judiciary and cannot, through conduct or statement, direct or indirect, blackmail the judiciary.”

According to Baderinwa, the government of Osun and the APC are not in any way considering protest neither against the judiciary nor the majority judgment as alleged by the PDP.

He said the greatest protest that could ever happen on the outcome of the tribunal was the dissenting judgement, hence there is no need for any protest on the street.

Baderinwa said: “We are pleased and we hold on to the greatest protest against the majority judgement of the tribunal, which is the dissenting judgment delivered by the chairman of the tribunal, Justice Muhammad Sirajo which dismissed the petition filed by PDP and its defeated gubernatorial candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke, against the popular victory of Governor Oyetola.”

But the PDP chairman, Soji Adagunodo, said “there is no hiding place for Oyetola and APC than to accept the decision by the panel” which sacked Oyetola from office.

He said APC’s game was up and that the party and government should be prepared to vacate the government house, Okefia, Osogbo.

The tribunal had spoken the minds of Osun people who voted en masse for PDP and his candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke, he said, adding that no amount of sponsored protest would change the truth.
