A man identified as Demola survived a brutal attack on Saturday after he allegedly led thugs to disrupt elections in Okota area of Lagos.

Demola was believed to have led thugs, who invaded polling units in the area, burning ballot papers for presidential and national assembly elections.

Demola afterwards met his doom on the same day after he was attacked by an opponent group of thugs. He was filmed in a trending video where he was covered in blood after being beaten and hit with stones in an attempt to lynch him in Okota, Lagos. His accomplice fled the scene.

However, a video shared on Twitter on Sunday showed Demola lying on a hospital bed receiving treatment in an unidentified hospital.

Demola, who is reported to be an Oodu People’s Congress member, was rescued to the hospital by sympathetic citizens.

It was not clear whether the police have located Demola’s hospital to question him on the incident and track down his attackers.

Under the Nigeria Electoral Act, it is illegal to disrupt voting by any means. Such offences attract two years in prison sentence.
